My name is Claudia Portugal, and I am delighted to join Bay Area Clinical Associates. I am a bilingual Spanish/English speaking Psychology Trainee, born and raised in the Bay Area. I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University, with an emphasis in Pediatric Behavioral Healthcare. I am passionate about providing socially and culturally-attuned mental health treatment for diverse youth and families. I have worked as a Registered Behavior Technician for children and adults, and provided parent skills training to their families. I have also worked as a mental health counselor for children, adolescents, transitional age youth, and their families in intensive outpatient, clinic, home-based, and school settings. As a student therapist, I have experience providing adult individual and couples therapy at a community mental health clinic. Most recently, I provided psychotherapy for individuals, couples, groups, and families in a residential medical setting. My goal is to support you and your family in reaching your mental health goals. Outside of work I enjoy hiking with my two dogs, swimming, and painting.
