About Tamera Hess:
My name is Tamera, and I am a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor actively working towards licensure in California. With nearly a decade of experience in the behavioral and mental health field, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.
I earned my Substance Abuse Counseling certificate from the University of the Pacific in 2018, followed by achieving my CADC-I certification in 2019. Most recently, in December 2023, I further expanded my expertise by graduating from American River College with two Associate degrees: one in Chemical Dependency and another in Human Services. My skills and knowledge are a blend of formal education and invaluable lessons learned from the dedicated clinicians, therapists, and diverse clients I’ve had the privilege of working with.
My experience spans a wide range of organizations and populations within residential treatment settings, guiding clients from detox through outpatient programming. I have facilitated SUD/CBT treatment for incarcerated adult males, provided MAT counseling for pregnant women, and supported veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness. Additionally, I’ve led various psychoeducational groups, including those focused on CBT, DBT, Anger Management, ACT, and relationship skills.
I am now eager to expand my practice to include youth and their families, bringing my passion for helping individuals navigate substance-related issues and compulsive behaviors. My commitment lies in empowering clients through education and support, fostering greater understanding and healthier choices.
