Hi there, my name is Simon and I’m an associate clinician at BACA’s San Jose office. I received my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy at Bethel Seminary San Diego and am currently a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. My clinical experience includes work with a wide range of individuals from elementary-aged youths to adults of varying socioeconomic backgrounds. I’m looking forward to expanding my work with adolescents, families, and couples who are experiencing various social and mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, and OCD.

Although I began my career in the tech industry, I’ve always felt that our relationships were the most essential tools for finding meaning, belonging, growth, and healing. Now as a therapist, I emphasize the importance of interpersonal support, especially in times of change or crisis. I believe that every person is on a unique journey with their own personal needs as well as strengths. It’s my privilege to walk with others on their journeys, whether that means engaging in intensive therapy or just providing a space to play and listen. My therapeutic approach involves techniques and perspectives drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy. I am also passionate about challenges regarding race, culture, identity, and socioeconomic disparities and openly invite these kinds of conversations throughout the therapeutic process.

A little more about me, I view myself as a creative individual who doesn’t hesitate to incorporate my personality into my work and play. I enjoy hip-hop dancing, watching movies, playing video games, listening to music, and creative writing in my free time. New experiences are exciting and valuable to me, particularly learning new skills, exploring unfamiliar places or cultures, and trying new foods.
