About Carly Lukas:
Originally from the East Coast, I earned my BFA in Theatre from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. My passion shifted to music post-graduation, leading me to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter in New York, where I wrote, recorded, and performed with the guitar.
I discovered a profound synergy between my artistic background and therapeutic practice through the Expressive Arts Therapy program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). Graduating in 2011, I began my journey as a school therapist at Malcolm X Elementary, engaging integratively with children, families, and the school system.
Now, as Site Director at BACA Berkeley, a role I transitioned into after 4.5 years as Lead Therapist for the Young Adult IOP, I’m dedicated to supporting both therapy patients and clinicians. I believe in fostering a safe, compassionate space for growth, utilizing the arts and play therapy, especially with children, and recognizing the power of humor in the healing process.
