I have always loved working with children and adolescents, whether it is on the playground, at schools, in  a homeless shelter, or in clinic. I have also long been intrigued by the workings of the mind and the intersection of the brain, mind, and behavior.  In college, I conducted research on ways narratives contribute to children’s emerging conceptualization of others. After medical school, I first pursued training in General Pediatrics.

However, while in residency, I continued to find myself drawn to mental health issues of children and adolescents. After residency, I pursued further training through an innovative fellowship program integrating General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training, specifically designed for fully-trained pediatricians.

My approach to assisting families who have concerns about their children’s social-emotional well being always begins with a careful and detailed psychiatric evaluation over the course of several visits to establish a preliminary impression and formulation. This will then guide my treatment recommendations.

I strongly believe in assessing each child, adolescent, and family in a comprehensive manner early in treatment, taking into account potential biological, psychological, and social factors that may contribute to current concerns, so that each can be addressed during the course of treatment. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and hiking.
