My name is Tamera, I am a certified substance abuse counselor working on becoming licensed in the state of California. I have been working within the behavioral and mental health field for almost 10 years. In 2018 I first graduated from the University of The Pacific with my certificate in substance abuse counseling. In 2019 I passed the CA state requirement to become a CADC-1. I continued to pursue my educational goals and that paid off when I recently in December 2023 graduated from American River College where I completed two Associates degrees, one in Chemical Dependency and another in Human Services. I have gained invaluable skills and knowledge not only from my formal education but from the hard working clinicians, therapists, and clients that I have had the pleasure of working with throughout my career. In my 10 years I have worked with a wide range of organizations and different populations. Working within residential treatment setting, helping clients throughout their stay from detox all the way to outpatient programming. I helped facilitate SUD/CBT treatment for incarcerated adult males, MAT treatment counseling pregnant women, veterans, and the homeless. I have had the pleasure of helping educate clients through psychoeducational groups some examples being CBT, DBT, Anger management, ACT, and relationship groups. I am very excited to be expanding my skill set to working with youths and their families. I am very passionate about helping people that suffer from substance related issues and or those seeking to gain more information on substance and compulsive related behaviors.
