Eliza Warde M.A., LMFT
I have been a Bay Area resident all my life, having been born and raised in Palo Alto. I attended Palo Alto High school and then took the long walk across the street to Stanford University. My growing up years were filled with athletics, more specifically tennis. I played in Northern California and eventually competed nationally and internationally, culminating at Wimbledon where I competed in the women’s and junior singles events. At Stanford, I played on the Women’s Varsity tennis team. My interest in psychology and mental health began at this time, as a family member was diagnosed with a mental illness. I subsequently took a few psychology courses and then declared Psychology as my major. It would be many years later that I resumed my studies in this field and received a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and then my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been counseling for over ten years. The years between were filled with the raising of four children, tennis coaching and teaching. My husband, also a Stanford University tennis player, and I were busy doing the soccer, baseball and kids activity circuit (no tennis players!) I took my interest in children, teens and families to my work at a local middle school and high school, where I was an on- campus therapist. I have also worked for the past two years as a therapist at the Opportunity Center in Palo Alto, a drop in center and free medical clinic for the homeless population. I am very excited to be a member of the BACA staff. I look forward to working with clients and helping them clarify and reach their goals.
